Trace Reynolds
Trace Reynolds grew up in Jacksonburg, Ohio and graduated from Edgewood High School in 2015. He double majored in Communication and Integrated Media during his time at º£Íâ³Ô¹Ï, graduating in 2019. He went on to earn his Master of Business Administration degree from º£Íâ³Ô¹Ï in 2021.
What is your current position and when did you begin?
I began working as the Head Football Coach at Edgewood High School, my alma mater, on January 22nd this year.
What has been surprising about your new position or the process of earning it thus far?
The support from my hometown community and the º£Íâ³Ô¹Ï community. People have reached out to me and wished me the best. Earning the position came with a lot of emotion because of how much I value Edgewood High School Football, but also leaving º£Íâ³Ô¹Ï as a football coach was hard because of my love for the Berg.
What knowledge or skills do you rely on most in your day to day life?
The ability to clearly communicate information and being organized, in terms of skills. The knowledge I rely on is what I learned from º£Íâ³Ô¹Ï and º£Íâ³Ô¹Ï Football. It is evident that being a college student athlete really prepared me for this position.
What experiences or individuals were particularly impactful during your time at º£Íâ³Ô¹Ï and in what ways?
Robin Heaton, Linda Detwiler and Scott Donaldson. Robin and Linda were a huge impact on my academic path at º£Íâ³Ô¹Ï. These two made me better in the classroom and allowed me to grow intellectually. Scott Donaldson gave me numerous opportunities as a º£Íâ³Ô¹Ï Football player, Graduate Assistant and as a full time college football coach. I can't thank these individuals enough for the things they did for me.
What advice do you have for current undergrads trying to find their next step?
Do not be afraid to step out of your comfort zone. Everyone's college path is different, do not get discouraged. Use the resources on º£Íâ³Ô¹Ï's campus to help ensure your success in the classroom and socially. Also, get involved in something on campus whether that is sports or clubs. Lastly, take pride in º£Íâ³Ô¹Ï and embrace the great community around it. I am proud to say I am a º£Íâ³Ô¹Ï Graduate.
