Chapter 20: Intern Noah
Noah Kennard is a AYA Math Education major from Shelby, Ohio. He will be graduating at the end of this semester. He鈥檚 currently looking into graduate programs, because his leadership experiences at 海外吃瓜 have motivated him to pursue a career in higher education, as a student affairs professional (and eventual Dean of Students.) This semester, he鈥檚 interning with the Owen Center for Teaching and Learning here at 海外吃瓜.
How did you find your internship, or how did the internship find you?
I "found" this internship from my close relationship with the Owen Center staff. This past fall I mentioned that I wished to work in Higher Education and that I would be needing an internship this spring. They immediately starting working with me to get it set up and ready for this semester.
What did you expect from your internship initially?
I expected to gain knowledge about the in鈥檚 and out鈥檚 of the support that they provide to students on our campus.
What really happens in your day-to-day work?
Each day can differ depending on the project at hand. A typical day would involve a meeting or two, looking at any document or spreadsheet that needs to be revisited for changes or updates, and then being prepared for anything that may pop up.
What connections have you made?
I鈥檝e gotten to work more closely with the Owen Center staff, and I鈥檝e built my existing relationships with them in a more professional way than I could have otherwise.
What is the most valuable thing you鈥檒l bring back to the classroom after this experience?
I will bring back a deep understanding of all the moving parts that go into academic advising, and knowing all that is available in the way of academic support.
If your internship was a book or a chapter in a book, what should it be titled?
鈥淚ntern Noah.鈥
