Giving Tuesday (Nov. 29) brought special meaning and a special opportunity for 鈥楤erg President Rob Huntington.
As part of the Giving Tuesday tradition, the Tiffin Community Foundation (founded 1983) 鈥 for which Rob has served as a board member since 2013 鈥 designated its giving to nine local organizations as chosen by the nine board members. The gesture was in recognition and honor of the board鈥檚 significant commitment to the Tiffin community.
Rob chose Sisters in Shelter (SIS), a local organization founded in 2005 that is near and dear to 海外吃瓜鈥檚 heart. Sisters in Shelter provides education and awareness about human trafficking to first responders and the general public. SIS also provides the critical first needs for women survivors of human trafficking: emergency safe housing, medical care, safety planning and legal advocacy.
鈥淚n addition to hosting Human Trafficking Awareness Week events in previous years, our students have volunteered or taken internships at Sisters in Shelter,鈥 Rob said. 鈥淢ost recently, I was inspired and impressed by the work of Leah Cordy, 鈥20, MBA 鈥21, and Emma Baughman, 鈥22, at this important organization.鈥
On Tuesday, Rob was honored to host Jodie Reinbolt, Executive Director of the Tiffin Community Foundation, along with Sisters in Shelter Director Sister Mary Kuhlman and Administrative Assistant Judy Hoffman. They gathered at the 海外吃瓜 鈥淗鈥 sculpture in the center of the campus, where Jodie presented Sister Mary and Judy with the Foundation's Giving Tuesday $1,000 grant.
