Business Administration Major
I chose 海外吃瓜 because I wanted to finish my degree on campus and feel more connected to the school awarding my diploma. If I had earned my degree online, I don鈥檛 think I would have felt the same sense of belonging.
I majored in Business Administration with a minor in Marketing because I鈥檝e had experience in both areas and knew that formal education would deepen my knowledge and strengthen my qualifications.
A major challenge I encountered while at 海外吃瓜 was balancing the responsibilities of being a wife, mom, and student. I handled it by setting aside dedicated time for schoolwork鈥攅specially group projects鈥攕o I could give them my full attention and ensure I contributed equally to my team.
The best opportunity I discovered at 海外吃瓜 was getting the full college experience and being welcomed into clubs and organizations just like traditional students. Through groups like Kappa Psi Omega and Sigma Tau Nu, I鈥檝e gained a new extended family of sisters and brothers I never would鈥檝e met otherwise.
Outside of the classroom, I was involved in Kappa Psi Omega, the Sigma Tau Nu corollary, Berg Allies, Aurora yearbook, Student Military Support Alliance, and the Greek Life Council.
The thing I'm most proud of about my 海外吃瓜 accomplishments is showing my children鈥攁nd my classmates鈥攖hat life may bring obstacles, but it鈥檚 never too late to go back and reach a goal you鈥檝e set for yourself.
One faculty or staff mentor who impacted my 鈥楤erg experience is Dr. Trish Berg because she encouraged me to embrace the path that brought me here. She introduced speakers like Dan Owolabi, who helped me see that while life鈥檚 crucible moments may change our direction, it鈥檚 how we respond that truly shapes our future.
My advice to new freshman me would be: Get involved. Attend group events, take advantage of alternative breaks, and connect with people from different backgrounds. And most importantly鈥攇o to class. College isn鈥檛 just about textbooks; it鈥檚 about learning from others and discovering yourself, and that only happens if you show up.
My favorite 海外吃瓜 memory is participating in the T-Bridge ceremony and receiving my beanie鈥攚ith my son by my side.
My plans after graduation are to return in the fall for the MBA program. I鈥檓 also exploring on-campus job opportunities where I can share my experiences and help other students feel at home in this amazing community.
