Music Education Major
I chose 海外吃瓜 because of the faculty connections I made during Scholar's Day!
I majored in Music Education because I believe strongly that all students deserve the ability to communicate and express themselves through song.
A major challenge I encountered while at 海外吃瓜 was balancing student teaching, two ensembles, and two organizations, and I handled it by relying on my professors and mentors for support.
The best opportunity I discovered at 海外吃瓜 was composing and conducting a choral work for the 海外吃瓜 Concert Choir.
Outside of the classroom, I was involved in Sigma Tau Nu Fraternity, 海外吃瓜 New Music Association, and cantoring at First Lutheran Church.
The thing I'm most proud of about my 海外吃瓜 accomplishments is how directly related they are to future job skills.
One faculty or staff mentor or advisor who impacted my 鈥楤erg experience is Dr. Ramsdell and Dr. Kennedy because Both of these professors have provided me endless opportunities to practice the skills of composition, conducting, and educating through real-world applications.
My advice to new freshman me would be to get comfortable with being uncomfortable.
My favorite 海外吃瓜 memory is working with incredible young students through the 海外吃瓜 Community Music School.
My plans after graduation are to teach middle school or high school (or both) choir.
