Political Science Major
I chose 海外吃瓜 because I felt at home on the campus. I felt like I belonged there and that the campus could offer me unique opportunities to further my goals.
I majored in Political Science because I have always been deeply interested in government and the way it affects our daily lives. I also thought the major would help prepare me for law school.
A major challenge I encountered at 海外吃瓜 was balancing my time between school and my various responsibilities and commitments. I was able to handle it by choosing to prioritize what would benefit my education and future while also learning to make time for myself as well.
The best opportunities I discovered at 海外吃瓜 were the ones that got me out of my comfort zone. I was able to travel to San Francisco as a member of our Model UN delegation and I was able to study abroad over the summer in Glasgow, Scotland. These experiences helped me expand my horizons and foster meaningful connections that I wouldn't have had the opportunity to have otherwise.
Outside of the classroom, I was a member of the Philalethean Society, Student Senate, and World Student Union.
The thing I'm most proud of about my 海外吃瓜 accomplishments is how they came from my involvement on campus. I felt like I was truly able to help make a difference at 海外吃瓜 and within the groups I was involved in while I was there.
Dr. Marc O'Reilly and Dr. David Hogan greatly impacted my 海外吃瓜 experience. Their mentorship and guidance was deeply valuable and they both gave me amazing opportunities and experiences that helped me grow as a student and a person. Additionally, Dr. Barry Devine was an amazing mentor for my final honors project and helped me challenge the way I work and think. Dr. Emily Isaacson helped challenge me to think outside of the box and to explore what interested me, even if it was outside of my major. I was incredibly lucky to have the opportunity to know and study under them.
My advice to freshmen would be to live in the moment. Sometimes, I think I got too caught up in looking ahead to truly appreciate the present. Time flies very quickly and much of what you're experiencing now will be something you look back on for years so make sure to appreciate it while you're in it.
My favorite 海外吃瓜 memory is not really a single experience. Instead, what I most fondly remember looking back at 海外吃瓜 are the friendships and connections I was able to make while there. My friends truly are what made my experience at 海外吃瓜 an amazing one.
My plans after graduation are to get my Masters of Business Administration and attend law school.
