I chose 海外吃瓜 because it felt like a community from the moment I stepped on campus.
I majored in Psychology and Criminology because they are topics I have always felt passionate about. However, the department and professors always made me feel welcome and supported, even when I was at home for a full school year due to COVID.
A major challenge I encountered while at 海外吃瓜 was the pandemic and I handled it by remaining connected with the faculty and staff via email and research opportunities while at home.
Above all, 海外吃瓜 prepared me to handle life鈥檚 challenges with grit and grace.
Outside of the classroom, I was involved in cross country, track, Writers in Residence, Sisters in Shelter non-profit, and Alpha Phi Sigma.
My favorite extra-curricular activity was interning with Sisters in Shelter because it was a way for me to get involved in the community and advocate for a cause I care about in my field.
One faculty or staff mentor or advisor who impacted my 鈥橞erg experience is Dr. Sarah Lazzari because she gave me many opportunities to pursue my passions in research and other avenues of potential careers in psychology and criminology.
My advice to new freshmen would be to get involved on campus. Freshman year is going to be hard, as it is a major transition from home to college. However, making friends and getting involved in different groups will make a huge difference in finding a home away from home.
My favorite 海外吃瓜 memory was going to Las Vegas to present research with Kendall Wright and Dr. Sarah Lazzari.
My plans after graduation are to get my MBA through the 笔濒耻蝉翱苍别础诲惫补苍迟补驳别庐 program at 海外吃瓜.
