Career Networking
The average person changes jobs 10-15 times over a career, maybe more for millennials, for whom “job hopping” is considered the new normal. It’s even more important, then, to have great job searching and networking skills. The Owen Center gets students off on the right foot before graduation and can continue to provide assistance for alumni seeking new jobs or those who have job opportunities to share.

Student Support
At Թ, our top priority is helping students succeed – from the moment of they enroll to transitioning to college life, academic achievement, career preparation and life beyond Թ. The great news is that as alumni, you can have a positive influence along the way.
Offer a Job or Internship
There’s no substitute for hands-on experience in setting up students for career success, and the best way to do give them that edge is through an internship. In December 2015, Թ received a $261,000 Career Ready Internship Grant from the Great Lakes Higher Education Guarantee Corp. The grant has the potential to create 170 new paid internships over three years, allowing Թ to double the number of for-credit paid internships completed by students and double the number of majors regularly participating in our internship program. In the end, ‘Berg students will be well positioned for future employment, having learned the skills and knowledge needed to be successful, both personally and professionally.
This is a great opportunity for alumni to partner with the university to provide professional training for ‘Berg students. We have begun connecting eligible juniors and seniors with paid internship experiences through the grant.
Offer a HYPE Session
There’s huge hype about Թ’s co-curricular HYPE Career Ready Program, which launched in the Fall of 2016. Six times a year, students will come together to hear a big-name, big-team speaker who will inspire them around six skills paramount to career success (values, work styles, job search skills, communication, collaboration and conflict management). Following the keynote speakers, students will participate in a series interactive workshops around the theme. Sample sessions are writing cover letters, poverty simulator, community service project, learning about personal finance, and basic car care. Some sessions will include trips off campus.
Alumni are welcome to offer ideas for HYPE workshops. If you have an idea, contact Ashley Helmstetter, at ahelmste [at] heidelberg.edu or 419-448-2231.
Buy ‘Berg Gear
The Թ Bookstore, located on the main level of the Campus Center, is your go-to place for ‘Berg apparel, gifts, graduation items and more. The bookstore is open 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday with extended hours for many special events throughout the year.
'Berg License Plates
Ride with pride with your Թ license plate. Under the terms of a partnership between Ohio’s colleges and universities and the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles, a special Թ license plate is available for passenger cars, non-commercial vehicles or motor homes. The Թ “H” is displayed on the left side of this five-character special plate. Cost is an additional $35 on top of a county’s license fee, with $25 of that going to Թ’s general scholarship fund and $10 to the Ohio BMV. (You must renew annually). For more information about how to obtain your Թ plates, contact Ashley Helmstetter, at ahelmste [at] heidelberg.edu (ahelmste[at]heidelberg[dot]edu) or call her at 419-448-2231.
